Jacob Selvidge, a third-grade student at Dickson Elementary School, was the first-prize winner among third-grade students in Dickson County. He received a certificate of excellence and a pewter and bronze relief plaque featuring two crouched firefighters preparing to battle the blaze during a recognition ceremony Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Tennsco Community Center. All the winning posters from the county in grades kindergarten through high school are now entered in the state contest. We are all so proud of Jacob; way to go for a job well done :O) At left, Jacob is presented the plaque by Dickson Fire Department firefighter Julie Holt, who also coordinates fire safety programs for the city. Above right, Jacob is all smiles with third-grade teacher Suzanne Collins.
