2nd Place Fire Safety Essay Winner

Sierra Donegan was the 2nd place essay winner for 4th grade. Here is what Sierra wrote: Fire safety is very important to know. It's not just for kids, it's for adults too. 911 is easy for smaller kids to learn. But 911 is not a joke. It's for emergencies only. Smoke detectors saves all kinds of lives, but to save a life you must have good batteries in. So, check the batteries one time per month. But every two years change the batteries. If you are in a fire, crawl like a baby. It's important to meet at the family meeting spot so they will know if you are all out. So, that's why its so important to follow family fire safety rules. Never jump out a high up window you can hurt yourself. If your door knob is hot, open your window and if your window is too high do not jump out. You scream and throw stuff and get their attention. To check the door knob, you check  it with the back our your hand. Do not go back in to get anything. You're the one that is important. Not your things. That is what I know about fire safety.
