The main focus of the program is to give the children a more in-depth look at the food pyramid. There will be eight different stations that the students will rotate through in groups of three. Five of the stations will focus on each of main food groups (milk, fruits, vegetables, grains, and meat & beans). The other three will discuss the importance of daily physical activity, reducing sugar intake, and the pyramid as a whole. There will be information at each station as well as an educational activity. The children will stay at each station about five minutes and someone will blow a whistle to signal the groups to rotate. Each station will be manned by an approved Extension community volunteer.

For Kindergarten and first grades, Mrs. Vanessa Flowers talked about Write to Learn program we're using this year. Each student got their own journal and stickers to create a story which they were asked to share. Also got writing activities for parents to use to encourage students to write over the summer.
